I'm Back

It's been a year since I blogged so I believe now is the time to start again and get real serious about it.
I'll cover many topics and review many techno items then go from there...

I hate my iPhone 4 and AT&T mobile service... That's what I hear a lot so I got the phone and I hate it too. An LG Vu plus will be dropped at my doorstep tomorrow and I'm going to compare these two phones on talking service alone through AT&T. I get dropped calls all the time with Apple's iPhone 4 at my location ( Laguna Beach, California ). I switched from Verizon to AT&T just for the damn iPhone. Never had problems with LG phones ( Verizon ). I can't wait to compare these two phones side by side as I call many friends around the country and compare dropped calls. My prediction.... LG will win!

Much more to come... Cell phone projectors, battery life, wireless and cable services capping bandwidth. Big brother cannot keep up with techno because they're too busy looking at stock options and trades!!!!

I look forward to telling you how it is and hope you do the same for me.

"Sir, I have problems with my iPhone too and this is what I do to help the battery life as well as help stop the dropped calls. I turn off 3G, Location Services, WiFi and (push) Notifications on my iPhone and it really helps me. I don't get dropped calls and the reception is much better. But I do turn them back on as needed for apps...Don't compare apples to oranges Verizon beats AT&T on phone reception alone but having that iPhone will over power anything that little LG VU can do."

Spammers hardly ever get caught which makes me think, is Oprah behind this one? ;-)

California Medical Marijuana Information

The assertion that all medical marijuana is headed for seriously ill patients is misleading. Statistics from the California Branch of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) shows that a survey of Californians reports the top three reported uses of medicinal marijuana:
40% Chronic Pain
22% AIDS-Related
15% Mood Disorders
(23% All other categories)

In California there is no state regulation or standard of the cultivation and/or distribution medical marijuana. California leaves the establishment of any guidelines to local jurisdictions, which can widely vary. For example, Marin County allows up to six mature plants, and/or a half-pound dried marijuana. It's neighbor, Sonoma County permits possession of three pounds of marijuana, and allows cultivation up to 99 plants, and physicians may recommend more for "exceptional patients."

Local and state law enforcement counterparts cannot distinguish between illegal marijuana grows and grows that qualify as medical exemptions. Many self-designated medical marijuana growers are, in fact, growing marijuana for illegal, "recreational" use.

Elected law enforcement officials, i.e. Sheriffs and District Attorneys in California have been targeted by the "marijuana lobby." Political action by groups such as NORML have endorsed and supported candidates favorable to medical marijuana. NORML tracks local elections and takes credit for the defeats of anti-marijuana candidates. Last year the DEA arrested a major marijuana trafficker in Humboldt County who was an undeclared candidate for sheriff.

The DEA and its local and state counterparts routinely report that large-scale drug traffickers hide behind and invoke Proposition 215, even when there is no evidence of any medical claim. In fact, many large-scale marijuana cultivators and traffickers escape state prosecution because of bogus medical marijuana claims. Prosecutors are reluctant to charge these individuals because of the state of confusion that exists in California. Therefore, high-level traffickers posing as "care givers" are able to sell illegal drugs with impunity.

The California NORML website lists federal defendants for the largest indoor marijuana cultivation operation in the U.S., which occurred in Northern California, as "green prisoners." While unscrupulously claiming to be "medical marijuana" defendants, in fact these two individuals were dangerous, armed fugitives believed to be responsible for drug-related murders and other violence.

DEA's San Francisco Field Division coordinates the statewide Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program (DCE/SP). The number of plants eradicated and assets seized represent the largest totals in California history.

There is only a few states in the USA that allow Marijuana for medical reasons.

My mom died in pain from cancer and it was not legal for me to give her THC. So fuck you! The Government! You say it is ok to hook up a morphine line but will not legalise a simple weed to help with pain.

My aunt died from alcohol and she could of been treated with marijuana instead of lethal drugs to shorten and take away her life. Marijuana is just a plant grown by our own earth. The flower itself will kill bad cells. The rest of the plant will still kill bad cells. Why does our Government get the weed story straight?

Man what a celebrity three death in a row heartbreak!

First Death: Ed McMahon, Jr. ( His original name is Edward Leo Peter ) Just Died June 23rd 2009. He was born in March 1923 and lived a long time as a very power full man.
Most know Ed as the side kick for the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson but he has
done a whole lot on his own. Ed McMahon was a decorated war veteran, stand up comedian, game show host, did many commercials, some movies and the list will grow if you want to learn more about Ed McMahon. Just search for him on the internet.

Second Death: Then the media hype about Ed McMahon dropped off the planet when Farrah Fawsett died of cancer two days later on June 25th 2009. Many people were shocked the day she died because of all the media hype. Farrah Fawcett sure did keep her last dying days out of the media though.
Farrah was born in February 1947. Her sexy posters were on the walls of many young men and Farrah Fawsett still holds the record for the most posters sold as a sex symbol.
Farrah became popular as one of the Charlies Angles TV show celebrities during the seventies
and she had struggled as an actor ( actress ) since the Charlies Angles TV drama until the made for TV movie, Burning Bed.

Third Death: Later the same day that Farrah Fawsett died the world went into shock when Michael Jackson was found dead. Now the media forgot all about the last two celebrity deaths because Michael Jackson was such a musical genius. Personally I think Michael Jackson was a great dancer, singer and song writer but he was also a ruthless business man and could not control his own life so well ( after he turned his face into a monster ).
I believe Michael Jackson was a very lonely, sick person hooked on drugs and his family didn't do anything about it because they were taken care of financially.
I'm very sorry that Michael Jackson died but he did it to himself with no help to make him well from family or friends.

Michael Jackson had a lawsuit from a pharmacy for not paying a $100,000 bill in just a two year time period. I think he was doing many more drugs than people could even imagine. Bing Search Engine

My thoughts on the new Bing search engine from Microsoft is nothing but a small sting. Microsoft recently replaced, "Live.com" search engine with, "Bing.com" The search engine is beta in many countries but in the USA it is live. The results are not much different from Microsoft's live search.

Get a domain including your favorite keyword and join a network of sites in your niche...And exchange links as well as social media links both adult and mainstream seem to work well.

My prediction is Google for the best search results for a long time.

I don't think so...

Today a married couple including Anna Patterson who is an ex employee of Google launched a search engine cuil.com (pronouced cool).

What do they take me for a fuil? The search results are pure spam right now, well not right now because right now their search engine is down. But when it was up earlier I typed in all kinds of one and two word searches and "no results found".
For any results that did come up on some other keyword phrases that I tried I got deep links to junk with no authority sites to be found.
Plus the images and logos that they put next to a listing were either broken or taken from the wrong websites.

Cuil is taken from an Irish word meaning Knowledge. "What knowledge", I ask myself.
They claim to have more web pages indexed than even Google. Well if that's true they need to know how to let people find these websites because their search engine sure can't find them.

My psychic prediction for Cuil is a big fat start up failier.

Many people have been told along life’s path that they can be anything they want to be and achieve any dream or goal they may have. Sure, that’s encouraging, but is it actually possible? If you can’t carry a tune to save your life, your dream of being a famous singer probably isn’t very obtainable. To truly achieve your goals, they need to be somewhat realistic. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t dream big, you simply need to have a reasonable chance of making it to your final destination. Many people dream of being a millionaire. Well, that is possible. You can achieve your goals of wealth if you work at it. Some people are born into wealthy families and will never have to work a day in their life. Others are not so lucky. If you work hard enough and have the determination, it is possible.

The mistake that many people make is simply thinking that it is possible to achieve your goals without having a clear and realistic plan of getting there. It isn’t possible to go from A to Z in a split second – you need to go through the rest of the alphabet to get there. It may be possible to skip a few letters along the way if things are falling into place but you still have to take the path. Every so often, a jackpot of luck will come along and whisk you directly to the end result. That doesn’t happen very often. Achieving your goals takes time, energy, dedication and determination. You need to have a plan in mind and you need to believe in it. It isn’t possible to just wake up one morning and decide that you want to lose 100 lbs. You have to have a plan to get to that end result. Simply thinking it doesn’t mean that it will miraculously happen. That’s where too many people go wrong.

Define your plan. Figure out how to achieve your goals in a reasonable time frame. If you tend to be lazy, tell several others what your goal is. Sometimes, when we voice our goals and dreams to others, we feel more determined to accomplish that finish line. Why? We wouldn’t want to look like a failure to the people that we shared our goals with. Start a journal. Write down what you want to accomplish and what steps you need to take in order to achieve your goals. Record your progress in your journal. It is easy to get distracted along the way but in your journal, you are able to constantly remind yourself about what it is you are trying to obtain.

Once you determine exactly how you need to achieve your goals and you know that they are realistic, take the first step in moving forward. Step off of the curb, take a chance – reach out to someone who will play a role in assisting you. Just know that in order to achieve your goals, you have to be able to reach them by following a certain path. Once you have that path clearly mapped out, don’t let anything stop you.

The world of eccentric or evil scientists is a constant plot in novels, TV and movies. The subject of mad science leads to dramatic consequences and can provide interesting characters. These stories often reflect the preoccupations of the times they are written in.

One of the first examples of a scientific experiment gone wrong is the novel, Frankenstein. Mary Shelley did not know that she was starting a trend when she came up with the tale after a night of sharing ghost stories. The story of Victor Frankenstein and his creation expresses the debate about religion versus science, so prominent in 1818, when the book was published. It could be interpreted as a warning against mad science and playing God or an indictment of the villagers who condemn Frankenstein's Monster out of hand.

H.G. Wells was another author who explored science fiction to discuss human nature and its frailties. Mad science is apparent again in The Invisible Man and The Island of Dr Moreau. The Moreau character, who experiments in genetic engineering with disastrous results, has modern reverberations today. The link between education and leadership is something that shrewd businessmen have known for a long time. The myth of the man of the streets, completely used to being in control and having a strong and personality, has been all but dissolved in the corporate world. Leadership and education have to go hand-in-hand, or neither skill is worth anything. What few businesses have caught onto, however, is the possibility of education leadership. More and more, there are programs designed to make smart but cautious business experts Into natural leaders. Although some people are born leaders, others need some help. Leadership education provides just the help they need.

When I took my first education leadership program, I was a junior executive at a large firm. Although I had a great degree from a reputable college, nonetheless I seemed stalled. My performance was pretty good, but I never was able to make the next step and get advancement. I was smart enough to know that, In spite of the fact that I was working for a large and soulless bureaucracy, the responsibility for my stagnation was mine and mine alone. I had heard a lot of good things about education leadership programs, and I asked to be enrolled in one. My boss was quite happy to see my dedication to self-improvement!

When I first got to the leadership development program, I was more than a little bit disappointed. Education leadership seemed a lot like kindergarten. Basically, it involved a lot of self-affirmation along with “life lessons”. Instead of learning how to share, however, we were learning how to tell other people what to do and have them obey us.

Nonetheless, despite the crass simplicity of the education leadership classes, I could definitely see them working. Every day, I felt a little bit stronger and a little bit more self confident. Every day I felt a little bit less inclined to compromise and listen to my opponent's position, and more inclined to take control. Basically, I was half 21st-century intellectual, half Hun Barbarian marauding across the steppes. In short, I was prepared for corporate America.

I won't say that education leadership is for everyone, but it certainly teaches you life lessons that are universal. It is a shame that business leadership programs are only given to business people. All that junk about sharing that people learn in school, about teamwork and such, leaves them unprepared for the real world. Only education leadership classes can show them how things really are!

Difficult People

Until things got hard at work, I had always considered myself good at handling difficult people. I knew just how to deal with difficult people, in fact. I was polite with them, I did not let them get under my skin, and I walked away. Dealing with difficult men when you can't walk away, however, is something else entirely, as I was soon to find out.

Everyone at some point or another has to deal with a difficult person at work. Perhaps it is someone who always talks and has no idea how to listen. Perhaps it is someone who is always on the defensive and they think that everything that you say is targeted towards them as an attack. Whatever the difficult persons issues are, you can bet that you won't be able to avoid conflict with them.

Difficult people make causing conflict their specialty. No matter how good you are at resisting, they will find a way to get under your skin. Sometimes, the people difficult use passive aggressive techniques. I had a friend who had some difficult employees who were just like this. They made it difficult for you to point to anything that they did and tell them that it was wrong. They were difficult people because they always found subtle ways of misunderstanding what you were saying and screwing it up.

In my case, the person was extremely hostile. I have always been good at handling people with anger problems. I simply stay out of their way, and let them storm around in their own cloud of anger. This is a lot more difficult, however, when you are dealing with difficult people who are right next to you all day long. We had adjoining cubicles, and no matter what I would do, I was always getting on Rick's nerves. He would find a reason to shout at someone almost everyday, but because the boss liked him, he couldn't be fired. He was one of the most difficult people I have ever had to deal with, in fact.

Finally, I went to a business coach who told me all about handling difficult people. The key was not, as I had thought, to stay out of their way. Rather, the key was confidently facing the difficult people who have been causing your problem. Difficult people, you see, are often bullies. They thrive on making people move out of their way. If you face them, they will be quick to back down.

It seems that no matter how much things change so many things stay the same. Terms that label something may change, however the basic outcome is still the same. I feel this is especially true in our education system. No matter how often new teaching methods are in the news, upon closer examination they are still the same old ways with a new label.

I appreciate the educators that do not try to re-label an assignment. My daughter is a senior in high school. In her sociology class she was given the assignment to complete a cause and effect essay. This is the same assignment that I had and I am sure my mother was probably given the same task to complete. When I look back to when I was given the assignment to write a cause and effect essay, I most likely had the blank look on my face that my daughter came home with. As we experience life the concept of every event having an outcome seems more natural because we have experienced this in our lives. But for a young person just beginning their lives it is difficult to get a handle on the concept.

My daughter is quite independent, yet she asked me for guidance in writing the cause and effect essay. She was at a complete loss on how to start it. As we were talking I realized that this was one of those times when she was making something much more difficult than she needed to. We broke down what was meant by the assignment. The terms of the assignment were throwing her. I explained that the cause is the why portion of the assignment. The effect is what happens as a result. We looked at the assignment sheet that the sociology teacher gave her. The instructions said to write a fifteen hundred word cause and effect essay on any topic that interested you. My daughter is not used to having this much freedom in completing assignments. Most high school teachers are very descriptive in what they want their students to complete. I thought that it was good that this teacher was providing more freedom because this is what the students will be experiencing once they reach college and are given writing assignments.

My daughter has many interests. She has spent her summers working for the park and recreation program. Her job for this summer was eliminated as the result of funding cuts and the removal of summer programming for first and second graders. I told her that this would be a great cause and effect essay for her to write about because she is experiencing the effects. I am sure that this will be a great assignment.

Rather than manufacturing a car, you have to type up financial reports, communicate with clients, and do other similar business tasks.

After all, when a worker is used to getting a certain amount accomplished in a single day, adding additional tasks on is never welcome. To do that without giving them training on how to accomplish other tasks is not only unrealistic, it is also unreasonable and unfair. The benefits of time management training is that it allows you to provide a way to ease workers into taking on additional responsibilities. If you provide them with adequate training, they will be able to cope. If not, you can often lose some of your best, most seasoned employees to greener fields. No matter what employee benefits you offer, if you stress them out too much, or stretch their time too thin, they will leave for another company.

Well I might not be the world's smartest man but I sure have aquired thinking skills over time.

Although science has recently shown us how malleable our minds are, popular culture hasn't fully caught up. In particular, we think of thinking skills as set in stone. According to this mode of thought, we are either born with well working, highly functional brains, or else we are born with dull ones that don't work very well. Although in school we try to train our critical thinking skills to function better, we often forget how much control he have over the working of our own minds. Few of us reach our full potential because learning tends to stop after school. Even when learning continues, we focus on learning facts but not on abstract thought processes themselves. When you become aware of the brain is a machine that can be tweaked to work better, however, the possibilities become endless. There is so much that we can do with our thinking skill.

Although creative thinking skills are being increasingly harnessed in the business environment, few people take the time to work with them in their personal lives. This is quite a shame. People spend a lot of time trying to psych themselves up for success, but what does success mean? Without creative thinking skills to come up with new ideas and new priorities, to revolutionize your approaches to old goals, and to reimagine your life, success or failure is meaningless. Although abstract thinking skills are important, creative thinking is probably the most important skill that you can developed. It keeps new, fresh ideas flowing into your consciousness and stops you from becoming stale and stuck in a rut.

There are many different ways to work on thinking skills. One of the most important ones, however, is to get in the habit of being a thinker. Reading books with interesting intellectual content, having philosophical and political discussions with people you don't normally talk to or agree with, and participating in discussion groups, are all great ways to keep your mind sharp. Beyond that, you can further develop your thinking skills by learning mathematics and formal logic. These help you to think in clear, coherent ideas and to understand how thoughts are put together. This is thinking skill at its most fundamental and abstract. If you can master the basic set of logical processes, you can master any ideas. It is as simple as learning the fundamentals that may have been left out of your education.

Ever since I entered college, I have been obsessed with improving memory. You see, I am pretty intelligent, but my memory has never matched my other intellectual skills. Normally, as soon as I finish studying for a test, I forget the information. If I am determined enough, I can keep it in to my mind for as long as it takes to pass the exam, but for no longer. Unfortunately, in college there is much more material to memorize than there ever was before. I barely made it through my first semester because I kept forgetting facts. I feared that if I didn't find a way to improve memory, I would probably fail a few classes. That was definitely something I did not want to do.

There are all kinds of different ways to improve your memory – so many that it is hard to remember all of them! Basically, they all break down into a few simple categories. You can improve memory through supplements, through mental exercises, and through self hypnosis. Many people start with supplements because they promise to improve memory with no work on your part. Unfortunately, they rarely deliver. I know that I was unable to improve my memory by taking these pills. All I did was waste money that I could have spent on memory improvement books.

Those books were quite a bit more successful. Although they take a long time to improve memory, they do eventually work. They have a lot of interesting techniques in them based on the way that memory works. If you can list things in different ways in your head, you can take advantage of the way that memory tends to group multiple pieces of data together. For example, if you can remember facts in chunks of three or four together, you can fit much more into your brain at once. The techniques are explained in simple ways that allow you to practice them over and over again until you get them right. Although these books don't deliver on improving your memory overnight like they say they will, they still do help in the long run.

Of course, the most novel way to improve working memory is through self hypnosis. A lot of companies sell hypnosis tapes they claim will help you improve memory by reprogramming your brain To function in a more efficient way. This is almost entirely nonsense. Although in theory hypnosis works, in practice you would be much better to work on improving short term memory through exercises.

In late December, I was talking to my family about New Year's resolutions. I asked them what resolutions they had, and their responses surprised me. Apparently, they do not make resolutions anymore. They were so convinced that resolutions were useless, that they have stopped making them. Although in one way, I admired the honesty of this approach, in another way I was somewhat shocked. Achieving your goals is one of the most important things in life, and just because you meet with some failures does not mean you should stop setting concrete goals. After all, you have no chance of learning how to achieve your goals if you never set them!

There are many different ways of setting goals. A lot of people have one method by which they claim you can achieve your goal, but in my experience different methods work for different people. Some people, for example, rely heavily on religious faith to achieve their goals. They will tell you that to achieve your goals, you need Christ, or some other commonly known religious figure at the center of your life.

This may work for them, but it is not the only way to achieve your goal. Other people have a much more concrete approach to setting and achieving goals. They say that, to achieve your goals, you have to think and act like a highly successful person. They use psychological tricks and personal affirmations to help achieve your goal. In many ways, these affirmations work much like religious faith does for those who are more interested in it. Rather than using faith in God to achieve your goals, these people advocate using faith in yourself.

Still other people say that the best way to achieve your goals is through therapy and counseling. They say that the reason people are dysfunctional is because they have certain deep conflicts holding them back from achieving goals in their lives. They advocate all kinds of different therapies to achieve your goals, from solution focused therapy, to psychotherapy, to life coaching.

In my personal life, I believe that the best way to achieve your goals is to combine elements from all of these approaches. If I feel alienated from myself and my goals, sometimes I will make a list and figure out what I have to do, and other times I will pray to God for guidance, or seek out a therapist. The best way to achieve your goals is to figure out what works for you, and for me it depends on the goals, and on what is holding me back.

The design is inspired by the original models from the 1960s, giving a retro feel that is combined with state of the art technology. The revamped car was launched at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, causing a stir amongst motoring journalists and people in the industry. Frequent gear changing is required, a small price to pay for such performance. Tires are priced at almost $300 each.

The model was nominated for the North American Car of the Year for 2005. This GT Vortech deserved a stylish television commercial to promote it and the result was impressive. Taking advantage of digital technology, old footage of Steve McQueen is slotted into the commercial. Known for his love of race cars, McQueen is seen behind the wheel of a silver 2005 Mustang Supercharger, taking it for a spin on a winding road through a cornfield. The footage is taken from the iconic movie, Bullitt and the commercial also pays homage to the Kevin Costner film, Field of Dreams. The advertising tag says, the legend lives; built for the road ahead. Everyone, on seeing this, wants to be where McQueen is sitting. The 2005 Mustang Supercharger has mixed the classic with the new and produced the best of both worlds.

No.. Not my 50th wedding anniversary... ?

I do have experience though...
I was first invited to a 50th wedding anniversary when I was 15 years old. I was more than a little intimidated. You see, I was awkward. I was just at that age when I was starting to hit adulthood, yet I was definitely not an adult yet. It was my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party, and I knew it would be a frightening affair. They are not the type of grandparents that give you nice presents, cookies, and kisses on the cheek. They are the type of grandparents that everyone is scared of.

Everything about the 50th wedding anniversary scared me. The wedding anniversary toasts scared me, meeting old relatives who I had not seen in years but who I was still expected to remember scared me, and simply seeing my grandparents scared me. They will just love anything that you make for them. My grandparents are not like that at all. I knew that if I didn't get them the right 50th wedding anniversary gifts, they would let me have it right there. Not only would it be embarrassing, but my parents would probably let me have it later on. I resolved to find the perfect anniversary present.

The one thing that is good about my grandparents is that they are very open about what they want. They made no secret of what they wanted us to buy for them. I got my grandfather a beautiful pen set, and my grandmother a gorgeous pair of earrings. My parents actually offered to help me out with them. The items that they wanted, after all, were quite expensive. It turns out that I had nothing to worry about. Everything went off pretty well. All the guests at the 50th wedding anniversary were in good spirits, and my grandparents were unusually friendly. In some ways, the 50th wedding anniversary was a night to remember. It was the first time I ever felt comfortable in front of a large group of people.

If you are looking for ideas for 50th wedding anniversaries, it is best not to stress about it too much. You can spend days looking for the perfect present and still not find it. I think I was in 8th or 9th grade at Penn Junior High. ME and a friend of mine Rob Nielson were sitting over at his house talking about girls and stuff and well, you will not believe this (it's true!)...Rob wanted to talk to his girlfriend that was babysitting at the time and I told him to call a number out of the blue and she answered the freaking phone!!!! Some of you may of heard some negative buzz lately about the authenticity of Wikipidia.com ? Here's a link from the BBC to an editor, known as Essjay. He claims to be a professor of religion at a private university. But he is in fact Ryan Jordan, 24, a college student from Kentucky who used texts such as Catholicism for Dummies to help him work.
